Features to know about

Keep Your Ride Level Under Load: 3,000-lb Heavy-Duty Support

When towing or hauling, a sagging rear end can throw off your braking, steering, and headlight aim. The RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit – Heavy Duty adds up to 3,000 lbs of load support by converting your factory leaf springs into a mechanically active suspension system. Variable-rated tension springs automatically adjust to the weight you’re carrying to keep your ride level and stable whether the bed is loaded or empty.

RoadActive Suspension kit installed on vehicle rear leaf springs showing level stance under load, illustrating improved traction and balanced ride height for towing and hauling.

Stay in Control on the Highway: Reduces Sway, Roll, and Axle Wrap

Heavy trailers and top-heavy loads can cause sway and body roll that make long drives feel sketchy. This RAS kit strengthens your existing leaf springs to prevent that side-to-side movement before it even starts. It also absorbs torque to eliminate axle wrap and wheel hop so your tires stay planted through curves and over bumps. The result is better traction while braking or accelerating and steadier control when hauling or towing.

RoadActive Suspension system installed on truck leaf springs preventing axle wrap and wheel hop, improving traction and stability under load.

Smooth Ride Loaded or Empty: Active Springs That Adjust Automatically

Most helpers stiffen the ride when you don’t need them, but these tension springs disengage when unloaded so your truck rides normally. Once weight hits the bed or hitch, they immediately activate to take on the strain. That means no harshness when driving empty and no bottoming out when loaded—just a balanced ride that feels right all the time.

Install It Once and Forget It: Maintenance-Free Bolt-On System

The fully assembled RAS units bolt directly under your leaf springs using the factory U-bolts, with no drilling, cutting, or welding required. Each coil spring can be preset during install for 25% to 40% tension using the included spacers to match your needs or level off an uneven load. Once installed, no air lines or adjustments are needed—just reliable, maintenance-free support every time you head out with a trailer or heavy gear.

Built Tough for Real Work: Epoxy E-Coated Steel Construction

Each component is built from high-grade alloy steel with an epoxy e-coat for corrosion resistance. End brackets have been tested to over 800 hours of salt spray exposure so they can handle years of road grime and weather without breaking a sweat. This durable design helps extend the life of your leaf springs, shocks, shackles, and tires while keeping your suspension ready for whatever you haul next.

I pull a enclosed trailer with two zero turn mowers so I needed something to help beef up the suspension of my truck. I purchased the Roadmaster Active Suspension and I am very pleased with the way it helped to level my truck while hooked up to the trailer.

by:

I did not want to write this till I had some road time, both regular and towing. Easy install. I found a great [online] video, specific to my Tundra, and that helped a lot. I took my time and it was still under 2 hours install. Road manners were generally unchanged afterwards except there is noticeably less body roll on turns and the rear hitch rides 1 inch higher than before installation. I set my gap to the white disc for my first tow. I pulled 5500#s and it had a pretty good ride. Braking was very stable. I was also using an E2 weight distribution and sway control hitch. I did notice a little up and down movement under acceleration, but it was better than I have ever experienced in the past. Really pleased that performance matched the hype.

by:

Would like a new pair as the overall look of my RAS now makes my truck look very dingy, besides not sure how it’s possible but seems like one spring is kind of stretched out.

by:

Once again etrailer delivers. My order was shipped the same day I placed the order. I watched a couple of [online] videos on installing the Roadmaster Active Suspension and they commented on how easy the installation is. That was my experience as well. I have a Toyota Tundra so there is an additional step, you have to remove the rear shackle bracket to install the eye bracket. I called Roadmaster's tech support with a couple of questions and their advice was invaluable. There is only so much information you can print in the installation instructions so talking to tech support is well worth the call. I just installed this so I have not towed my trailer yet. Driving without a load the ride is a little more firm and the cornering is more flat.

by:

Just completed a 900 mile trip towing my 26 ft travel trailer with a 2014 Tundra. The RA suspension kit made a noticeable difference in the feel of the vehicle while towing with less vehicle sag. I adjusted the kit to the lower of the two settings and notice little difference in ride when unloaded. The truck does set an 1 1/2” higher in the rear. I also use an equalizer hitch w/sway control while towing. The kit performs as advertised and was not terribly difficult to install.

by:

Added these to my 2016 Tundra in preparation for towing my 24 foot travel trailer around the country. 15 states and who knows how many miles I am so happy with them. I don’t have a distribution hitch and the truck tows so well. Without the trailer bumpy roads aren’t harsher than before, and there’s a minor improvement to handling.

So glad I didn’t get air bags and got these instead.

by:

Installed RAS34FR on 2016 Tundra 2WD used to tow an RV Trailer with an 800 lb tongue weight (truck rated for 1000 lb). The Blue Ox hitch system we use sets ball behind rear bumper about 14" putting significant leverage disadvantage on truck, and even with weight distribution set up pretty high, truck rear squats way too much.

I really like the RAS system for many reasons including: relatively easy installation, less hassle once installed compared to air bags, minimal impact on truck ride loaded and/or unloaded, expect system to be durable over the long haul, no need to fuss with pressure adjustments of air bags, and ability to easily "self tune" amount of added support in unlikely event you may choose to alter it.

I will continue using system in towing our 4 ton RV trailer as well as doing typical home owner hauling. The RAS system ( the 3000 lb capacity option) set up for 40% assist has made a world of difference towing the RV. Truck now sets level even without heavy torque set on bars of Blue Ox hitch. Handling is back to normal; no sway, front of truck elevation neutral VS pitched upward, ride is good.

Please note that at the initial set up listed above, truck does set up about 1-1/2" higher when empty and ride is just a bit more stiff compared to stock (no RAS) ride. I may choose to back down on 40% assist level a bit in future to resolve these issues which are minor in my judgement.

etrailer service from Christina J was excellent. Shipping was trouble free and prompt. Communications were timely and to the point. Although the RAS price is high, overall I feel that I got what I paid for - a product that delivers the performance it brags about. eTrailer listing was accurate and helpful. It appears the RAS product reviews are legitimate VS the obvious fake ones you get on some other popular sites.

I recommend the RAS product and feel potential buyers can trust it will deliver within it's specifications for you.

Stiffened up the rear of the truck considerably. Minimized trailer drop when hauling my camper, and has improved the ride stability when hauling around dirt and rocks. No more tire squish or taking it easy for this Toy. Excellent product, well designed, and easy to install on the driveway.

Still working wonderfully. No sag, rear sticks to the road when cornering, can hardly tell when youve got a load or are towing a trailer. Even pulled my buddys 28 Cougar trailer with no issues. Excellent product, and love the adjustments.

by:

Etrailer was very helpful on the ordering and shipping of the RAS suspension assist.
I have not installed yet that will be completed tomorrow, will write a follow up in a few weeks. Pictures 9f install will be added at next review.

Great, the RAS has worked just as they describe. A more stable ride while pulling the camper, smoother while hauling a payload. Very pleased with the product

by:

I haul a 36 foot travel trailer, with my 2017 Tundra. My suspension would bottom out on rough road and that is no longer an issue. Raz works great! Thank you!

Wow....What a difference! First off, the etrailer crew was fantastic and my order arrived a couple days early. The wife and I were scheduled to go camping the week following Thanksgiving and I wanted to install the RAS before we left so I could see if it lived up to the hype. It arrived the day before Thanksgiving while I was at work which gave me 2 days to attempt to install these on my 2013 Toyota Tundra. It took approximately 90 minutes to install......And I'm very meticulous about these things!! I had a little hiccup trying to extend the threaded rod, but etrailer support set me straight - On Thanksgiving!!! I took the beast out for a test drive and was amazed at the difference in the ride. I set them at 45% or the 2mm disk spacing and my truck rode like it was on rails. No more sway or body roll, even my wife noticed the difference! She said "I don't have to grab the Oh Sh!t handles anymore!" 2 days later we loaded up our travel trailer, a 30' trailer that weights about 8,000 lbs, and took off. The ride was sooooo much better. Very little sway from passing trucks, it was less bouncy, and we handled the corners much better. I highly recommend this product!

So far, so good. Still loving this product

Added a Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit to my 2019 Tundra to reduce squat when towing my Travel Trailer with the fresh water tank full. The extra 400 lbs of water adds a lot of tongue weight. My experience with e-trailer is that they always ship “freaky fast”. As usual, my order was at my door in just a few days. The Roadmaster Active Suspension kit was nicely packaged with very good instructions. All components were well designed and manufactured. Installation went smoothly.

When originally installed, I adjusted these to the highest setting. That was more than I really needed. Backed it down to the lower setting. I get all the ride height control I need along with a better ride. Body roll, axle wrap and all the other unsettling gyrations are eliminated. Buy these, put em on and forget em.

by:

Install went smooth, hooked it up and it made a difference to my overland rig when fully geard up . Even kept the articulation in the rear.

by:

Installed on a 2018 toyota tundra to help sag and stability when pulling travel trailer. One of the best purchases I have ever made, not only did it help significantly when towing (30 ft 7000lb rv) but also helped the overall ride quality of my truck. Eliminated sway and body roll truck feels like it is on rails when navigating twisting roads at highway speed.

by:

Great product! Owning a 2021 Tundra and towing a 2022 grand Design travel trailer, we always had enough power and weight on the truck. However, we have fought the rear end sagg. We tried Sumo springs , and they were okay but still were lacking. I installed the Road active suspension springs and they solved all our issues. Easy to install and set up. We highly recommend this product.

by:

Good quality, easy to install. A great addition to our Toyota Tundra.

by:

Rides just like it wasn't there but performs like air bags. Great product.

by:

Definitely stiffened the suspension but still not enough for hauling a fifthwheel, this is on a 2010 tundra.I should have went with airbags in the beginning as this will be my next step.

by:

Was very easy to install on my 2021 Toyota Tundra , I cant wait to see how it does when I haul a Heavy load.
Lifted the rear up an inch.
Drives even smoother than it already did.

by:

My third set. F-110, F-250 and a Tundra. I use the F-250 to pull a 42’ Fifth Wheel RV. 2300 Lbs.tongue weight. Barely lowers the truck compared to without the enhancement kit. It feels like 300 Lbs. Still have a great ride when not towing and without a load.

by:

This product did exactly what we wanted. Our Toyota Tundra suspension was lacking and sagged; this product brought the truck back to no sag while pulling our travel trailer.

by:

I just finished installing this kit and the installation was very simple and smooth. I did take it for a no-load test run, and could tell the change. Can't wait to see how it does with a load, (my Quad).

This a great product, it truly helps the suspension of my truck, both with or without a load..works great!

by:

It’s still early, but installation was straightforward. The Tundra handles the 5th wheel tongue weight well. I have not driven it unloaded yet, but it doesn’t feel harsh.

by:

2020 Tundra install that is supplementing a full Icon suspension including upgraded leaf springs. Easy installation process and completed by myself in a short afternoon. Definitely can tell a positive difference in handling even with no load. Pulling the trailer tomorrow to see the real benefits!

  • Is SumoSprings or RoadActive Suspension Better For 2008 Toyota Tundra
For your 2008 Toyota Tundra, between the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-610-54 and the RoadActive Suspension (RAS) Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS4611TD, the better overall system is the RAS # RAS4611TD. The reason for that is the RAS is an active system which continually reinforces your Tundra's original leaf spring suspension. The force normally put on its leaf springs, either when carrying cargo or towing a trailer like you are, gets transferred to the RAS Enhancement...

  • Recommendation to Stop Bounce When Towing Trailer With 2019 Toyota Tundra
Hey Steve, with this problem we have seen people have great luck fixing it by installing a Roadactive suspension kit like the part # RAS34FR that is a confirmed fit for your 2019 Toyota Tundra. The additional suspension support provided to the truck does a great job making that stop as well as has the side benefit of improving unloaded ride quality and handling as well. • Roadactive Suspension Kit for 2017 Toyota Tundra Towing Trailer with V-Nose
Hey Trae, so weight distribution can be used on trailers that have v-noses like what yours has but you have to use bolt on chain hangers that will sit under the v-nose. Now with that said for the weight of your trailer I would actually just go with a Roadactive suspension kit part # RAS34FR. This gives you the support you are wanting to reduce the sag and is a lot less of a headache than dealing with WD on a v-nose trailer and the harshness of a Timbren. Unlike other options the RAS kits...
